How to scale private 5G in a fragmented market
Led by Pablo Tomasi, Principal Analyst, Private Networks
Private 5G has potential for premium features, valued by a wide variety of industries and applications. The market is maturing - replicating and scaling - but getting private 5G solutions commercially launched remains a key challenge. Leveraging lessons learned and adjacent technologies such as cloud and edge is key to unlock ways to replicate and scale private 5G solutions quickly.
Telco Transformation
Transforming communication networks with telco cloud infrastructure
Led by Inderpreet Kaur, Senior Analyst
Benefits of virtualization technologies reaped across IT infrastructure is encouraging telcos to run network functions over virtual machines. However, many have ended up building siloed approaches in the process and this is now preventing them from embracing the true benefits of a common-scalable infrastructure and agile operations. Telcos envision challenging this by going cloud native. How can telcos move past the challenges of cloud-native before they can reap the full benefits of network cloudification?
Enterprise edge services: Opportunities and challenges for telcos, MSPs and IT service providers
Led by Andreas Olah, Senior Analyst, Digital Enterprise
Services Enterprises increasingly invest in analytics and AI-based solutions to generate value from data, e.g., for achieving greater operational efficiency and better customer experience. Service providers including telcos, system integrators and hyperscalers offer professional and managed services around these technologies including consulting, integration, and fully managed services that take advantage of their connectivity. Workloads are moving to the network edge for low latency and compliance reasons.

Mobile Networks
With a range of innovation happening in the mobile networks space this year, our experts will be producing research on a variety of topics and can collaborate with you to bring their insights to your audience. Some of the past topics that we can work with you on this year are:
The migration path to 5G core
Led by Roberto Kompany, Principal Analyst, Service Provider Networks The 5G standalone (SA) architecture will require the 5G core (5GC), which will support communications service providers (CSPs) to offer new use cases and lower their operational costs. Yet by mid-2022, almost 4 years after the initial 5G rollouts, only 22 CSPs have deployed 5GC. The migration path to 5GC is complex and CSPs must carefully weigh the alternatives and ensure their strategy can meet and deliver on their business goals.
Should we get excited about 5G-advanced?
Led by Remy Pascal, Principal Analyst, Mobile Infrastructure
5G-advanced is the evolution of 5G starting from 3GPP release-18. It is fair to say that 5G has disappointed in some aspects, particularly the differentiation with 4G. But some of the most exciting innovation will potentially come with the second stage of 5G i.e. 5G-A.
Open RAN, why is it not happening faster?
Led by Remy Pascal, Principal Analyst, Mobile Infrastructure
New entrants and supporters of open RAN face challenges and fierce competition from incumbents, but open RAN continues to be at the center of conversations and continues to receive backing from key operators.
Mobile Networks
Roaming and wholesale in a 5G era
Led by Julian Watson, Principal Analyst, Wholesale Telecoms
5G SA deployment is gathering pace. Increasingly, enterprises, consumers will expect to access the same services, applications and experiences at home and when roaming. This represents a significant commercial opportunity for MNOs. To reap this opportunity, MNOs must navigate considerable technical complexity, such as a transition from home routing to regional or local breakout, and commercial wholesale models that integrate performance-level metrics and as well as volumes. Working with the right partners will be vital to navigating this complexity and capturing new revenue opportunities.
Delivering greener networks, not greenwashing
Led by James Crawshaw, Practice Leader
GSMA members have adopted a target of carbon neutrality by 2050, with energy efficiency as a fundamental requirement for 5G. Virtualization, disaggregation, and cloudification can help reduce energy consumption, as does more efficient coding, better spectrum management, and sleep modes. Yet operators need to look beyond energy consumed. This webinar will look at the key factors shaping green networks in the telecom business, from the environmental impact of infrastructure, operations, and equipment, to the materials chosen and sourced, to how equipment and operations are designed.

6G: Developing an application-aware network
Led by Dario Talmesio, Research Director, Service Provider Strategy and Regulation
Studies for the 6G definition of 6G have only recently started to take momentum. As the market will rapidly evolve to 5G-Advanced, the industry will need to start standardizing 6G and insert the demand from all industries and economic sectors that will take advantage of 6G. Understanding the applications that might drive 6G will be an important preparatory work for service providers and hyperscale operators but most importantly for all technology companies that will have to place their early bets on the technology.
