Q: What interested you about joining the Advisory Board for AutoTech: Europe?
A: It’s a great opportunity to help shape and influence Europe’s largest Automotive focused conference ! The Advisory board concept is a cool idea, having professionals within the sector come together and pool their knowledge, to shape what would interest them coming to an event, has to add to the organisers insight.
Q: What hot topics are you exploring most in the automotive sector currently?
A: Our expertise is supporting others deliver realisable sustainable change so the paradigm shift hitting the Automotive sector provides a wide range of possibilities. We are finding that our experience supporting OEM’s moving to a Direct Customer Engagement Model and the switch to Agency model is generating a lot of interest, as is the trend for OEM’s to move to a more service orientated revenue model rather than the traditional sales and aftersales approach, with connected car and data monetisation sitting at the core of those conversations.
Q: In what way can automakers build a more strategic business through shared learnings with a third party?
A: There are endless opportunities, the real challenge in my mind is to focus on the most critical areas, the areas that you believe will be the differentiator and go whole heartedly into exploring these areas with the right resources – either internal, external or a hybrid approach. With exploration in mind, the organisation must create the right mindset, one of fail fast with a real desire to learn, those that succeed recognise failure, and quickly learn from it.
Q: How can automakers connect future visions with the reality of current applications and technology?
A: Nobody can tell what tomorrow will bring, in my honest opinion technology advancement is outstripping our abilities as human’s to adopt and accept change, not to mention regulatory constraints. We have to really start to put the individual consumers in the middle of our eco system and design with them in mind, not simply trying to find a place for the latest technology. The Traditional challenge within Automotive is the typical 5-to-7-year product lifecycle is restrictive, as we move more and more to SDV, this flexibility will open up greater amounts of change and flexibility.
Q: What measures are you taking to comply or get ahead of competitors and meet the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) with your organisation’s sustainability strategy?
A: Sustainability and ESG goals is on everybodies agenda’s and rightly so, with each part of the supply chain having different priority areas, as a consultancy organisation we are focusing on reducing our carbon produced with transportation.
